W&CO. STYLE GUIDE

“On the night of December 11th, 2023, Nick (Erika Laine’s husband) and I went to bed like we always did. We laughed at something silly and said we loved each other ❤️ The next morning on December 12th after calling his name and shaking him at 9:10am, I noticed Nick was non responsive in the bed next to where Olivia (her newborn) and I were. At 9:11am I dialed for help from the NICU. Within 5 seconds the NICU nurse came in and started doing compressions, and within 15 seconds the code blue team came in. They rushed me and my baby out of the room. They took Olivia into the NICU and myself in the room next door. Within 20 minutes they came in telling me my husband was dead. I then had to spend 3 more days to finish Olivia’s stay due to her needing a boost of caffeine for her brain development they gave her on Sunday night 12/10/23. They did an autopsy and they still can’t find a reason for his death. What 43 year old man just doesn’t wake up? He would always go to the gym, he took a break during the last month for his shoulder and elbow. He had 9 surgeries for both shoulders and his elbow has always bothered him. He ate boring chicken and rice. Throughout my pregnancy, he had under a handful of drinks. He would only take a Tylenol or ibuprofen if he really needed it. We are still waiting to get the results from the hospital taking microscopic pieces of each organ and toxicology. I don’t think they are going to find anything. So this is just one of the mysteries of life.”

We are honored to donate the proceeds of Women & Co. to Erika Laine and her family. If you are unable to make the event, we are taking donations through the ticket link.

GET TO KNOW THE

My husband, Lee, and I opened Sawyer Brewing in 2018. Since then we have expanded to an offsite brewing location, tripled our staff, and our most recent venture is roasting coffee. With a degree in public accounting, my main job with Sawyer is accounting and office work. One of my favorite parts of ownership is working hands on at the taproom and meeting customers. My other gig is managing our AirBnb - a one bedroom cabin just outside of Spearfish. Lee built this cabin in college and we lived in it for several years before our family grew. And, if you know us, you know we're going to turn an opportunity into a business! I rarely leave the house without lipstick and earrings and when I find a spare minute, I slip away to enjoy an iced coffee.

My name is Amanda Sletten. I've been married to my husband Joel for 18 years and have four kids ranging from 14 to seven. Spearfish is such a gem of a place to raise a family and I feel so blessed to be able to live and work here.
Something Borrowed originated out of a love for creativity, thoughtful planning, design, and the adventure of untapped business potential. The wedding and event industry is ever changing and challenges us to have an inventory tailored to the current demands. We continue to be amazed with this incredible journey and the amazing people we get to encounter in this business.

My name is Wynter Childers, and I am the founder and owner of CBWYN Wedding and Event Planning. I take great pride in my planning & design approach and work to deliver intimate, memorable experiences for every client or occasion. I am a South Dakota native and University of Alabama Alumni. My passion for community and bringing people together is what started CBWYN. I love to meet new people, thrift, travel, cook, and spend time with my family and dog Archie.
Women & Co. is something I started based on having so many questions about business and my passion for building a network. I want to give other women the tools they need to feel confident and move forward with their goals.

WYNTER CHILDERS,
OWNER OF CBWYN & FOUNDER OF W&CO.

I’m Mariah, owner of Mariah Paige Photography. The idea of having a business started when I was pregnant with my daughter. I wanted to document every moment of our lives and felt inspired to do the same for others. In 2019, I made the decision to wholeheartedly dive and build my business. It’s been a wild ride, but I’m so thankful for it all! I grew up in Missouri and made South Dakota my home. Married my high school sweetheart and we have two kids, 9 and 6. Before my business we lived in a camper and traveled for work. Those are some of my favorite memories. Now, our lives are pretty much business, soccer, and trying to soak in as much free time as possible.
